Looking for a stair lift for curved stairs? Our go-to stair lift for curved stairs is the Stannah 260 stairlift (reconditioned). We like Stannah for their high quality parts, reliability and adaptability. Their stairlifts are well positioned with a very thin chair back which makes them suitable for difficult and narrow stairs.
When a Stannah won’t fit on a set of stairs, we usually recommend a stairlift for narrow stairs: the Flow X. The Flow X is superb at handling awkward and difficult staircases.

Here’s two of our favourites side by side. The Stannah 260 pictured right and the Flow X pictured left.
Stair Lift For Curved Stairs – Why Reconditioned?
Our reconditioned stairlifts are some of our most popular products and for good reason. Most customers want to save money on a stairlift. With our choice of Stannah for reconditioned stairlifts, you get a high quality, reliable machine for a lot less than at brand new prices.

All our reconditioned stairlifts come with a full, 2 year warranty, covering you for parts, call outs and labour. We pick only the best lifts for refurbishing, and give each one a thorough assessment, replacing any faulty parts and replacing the batteries. We make sure they are tip top before we assign our 2 year warranties to them.
Stair Lift For Curved Stairs – Awkward Staircases
The Stannah 260 for curved stairs is often the best and most cost effective solution for curved stairs. But if that model won’t fit on your staircase, we often default to a more advanced model such as the Flow X from Thyssenkrupp. The Flow X has an ASL (Advanced Swivel and Levelling) technology which means it can handle much more tricky staircases. So when there’s a very tight or awkward space to consider, this is the stairlift which can work, when no other model will.

Heavy Duty Stairlift For Curved Stairs
With the Flow X stairlift mentioned above, the maximum weight limit is approximately 19.5 stone. So for those who are above this weight, or pushing the limits of the Flow X, you’ll need a heavy duty stairlift. With a heavy duty stairlift, there’s a stronger rail and larger chair. This can present issues for when there’s also a narrow staircase to navigate. So the answer we have found which works the best is the Platinum Ultimate which is a heavy weight stairlift (25 stone) for narrow staircases.
The Bruno, is a more heavy duty stairlift which can carry up to 30 stone, so is another option for the heavier user. However, the Bruno is less agile on narrow staircase due to it’s larger chair and bulkier rail.

Here’s the Platinum ultimate stairlift (pictured left) and the Bruno heavy weight stairlift (pictured right) side by side. As you can see, the Platinum has a single rail which can make it more nimble for narrow stairs than the Bruno. It can also pivot while travelling.
The Bruno has a heavier load bearing capacity of 30 stone, so is more suitable if the user exceeds the limit of the Platinum (25 stone). However, the Bruno is less adaptable for difficult staircases, and the rail is much larger and more cumbersome than that of the Platinum’s.
Summary
For most curved staircases we recommend the Stannah 260. It is a great stairlift, will fit most curved staircases and has a weight limit of 21 stone. This makes it one of the most versatile stairlift available for curved stairs.
We use reconditioned Stannah’s because this gives our customers a superb machine at a fraction of the cost. The build quality of these machines means they often outperform other, cheaper makes and models.

When a Stannah 260 won’t fit on a curved staircase, our next “go-to” stairlift is the Flow X stairlift. This stairlift is simply the best option for very narrow and awkward stairs. It’s ASL technology allows it to bend and weave around awkward configurations which would have been otherwise impossible for a stairlift.

If you require a heavy weight stairlift, we recommend the Bruno and the Platinum Ultimate – with the Bruno having a higher weight capacity and the Platinum more suitable for narrow stairs, but with a higher weight capacity than the Flow X model.
