If you’re looking to purchase a reconditioned stairlift it’s not uncommon to wonder how long a reconditioned stairlift will last.
At UK Stairlifts, we professionally refurbish premium stairlifts only from trusted manufacturers such as Stannah and Access BDD. This allows you to save up to 40% without compromising on safety or reliability. Every stairlift is fully dismantled, inspected, fitted with new batteries, rigorously tested and installed by our experienced engineers.
Having removed and refurbished thousands of stairlifts over the last 20 years, we’ve found that some models last considerably longer than others. That’s why we primarily refurbish Stannah stairlifts rather than many cheaper alternatives.
All reconditioned stairlifts are backed by our comprehensive 2-year warranty covering parts, labour and call-outs.

How Long Does A Reconditioned Stairlift Last?
We choose only the best stairlifts for our refurbishing process. All parts are thoroughly checked and tested and replaced where necessary. We like Stannah and Thyssen-Krupp stairlifts because spare parts remain readily available, the engineering is extremely reliable and they’re straightforward to maintain for many years after installation.
Motors in these models are much hardier than in some cheaper models, so they have a history of lasting without problems for longer.
Batteries cause many of the problems associated with pre-used stairlifts so we give all our reconditioned models brand new batteries.

Our Reconditioning Process
We buy second hand stairlifts that are in very good condition and only choose the best models for reconditioning. Once we have them in our workshop, they are placed on the rail and thoroughly tested. Each part of the stairlift is carefully checked, with certain parts replaced completely.
With all stairlfits, certain parts are prone to problems, and these are the first to be checked. Often it is the safety panels which are tested first. They can often wear down and trigger an issue. Faults often come up on stairlifts for simple things such as a worn switch on a safety panel.
The connection to the power is often another issue, so connecting pins and plates are checked and replaced if worn or faulty.

Our Experience: Your Savings
We have been in the stairlift business for over 20 years and we choose the best stairlifts for reconditioning because we know they will last. Some cheaper makes and models simply won’t last as long, and from our experience we know the models to choose.
We like Stannah and Thyssen for our reconditioned range because of the build quality and longevity of these models. So rest assured that when you buy from us, you’ll be getting a top model for a discounted price that won’t let you down!
Our 2 year warranty gives you the peace of mind knowing that you’re covered for parts, labour and any call outs.

Extending Your Warranty
Our 2 year warranties can be extended too, if you want extra cover once your warranty expires. Speak to one of our staff to learn more.

Over time, stairlifts can malfunction – they are after all a mechanical and electrical device. A reconditioned stairlift should last for years, and even out-perform some cheaper models that are newer.
Stannah’s powerful motors and excellent build quality make them our go-to choice for refurbished stairlifts. They just keep going, long after some other makes/models run out of steam!
