In some instances we can install reconditioned stairlifts for narrow stairs. Often, a standard stairlift will work for a narrow staircase, depending on the staircase complexity. For example, our preferred make of stairlift for reconditioning is Stannah.
Having removed and refurbished thousands of stairlifts over the last 20 years, we’ve found that some models last considerably longer than others. That’s why we primarily refurbish Stannah stairlifts rather than many cheaper alternatives.
Stannah have also done their homework when it comes to design. Their chair position is well back to the rail which makes for more leg room even on very narrow stairs.
Reconditioned Stairlifts For Narrow Stairs
If your staircase cannot accommodate a Stannah, whether your staircase is straight or curved, it is still possible to install a reconditioned stairlift in your home when models are available. For very awkward and difficult staircase, we choose the Flow X or Flow 2a stairlifts from Thyssen-krupp.
These stairlifts for narrow stairs are the absolute best when it comes to tricky stairs where nothing else will fit. Here’s one we installed in Yorkshire.
Availability
As you would expect these stairlifts are not cheap, and so the reconditioned models are in high demand. With a reconditioned stairlift you can save up to 40% compared to buying new. When you’re looking at £6,000+ for one of these models new, the reconditioned model is highly desirable when you can save so much.
We often have reconditioned models in our stock, however, due to their high demand they are not always available and you may need a brand new model where reconditioned ones are not available.
Do You Need A Specialist Model Like The Flow X?
For most households you don’t require a specialist model such as the Flow X and you can save a lot by purchasing a reconditioned Stannah stairlift.
Most of our Flow X purchases come from households which cannot accommodate the Stannah models due to very awkward staircase. They are either very narrow, have difficult turns, or require multiple parking points which other lifts cannot accommdate.
Here’s a stairlift we installed on a difficult staircase. Another stairlift had been installed, but it was too wide for the staircase. This was a Flow X on a straight staircase, but as you can see it was very narrow.
