Small stair lifts can be the answer if you have a very narrow or awkward staircase. Perhaps you’ve even been turned away from having an stairlift installation in your home? We have often been passed installations from other suppliers who couldn’t fit a stairlift due to space issues.
Here’s a couple of our installations on very narrow stairs where a small stair lift was the only answer:

Small Stair Lifts – The Flow X
The Flow X is the best lift for a very tricky staircase which has a turn in it. For less complicated stairs, we often choose a small stairlift such as the Stannah 600 for straight stairs. Here’s the Stannah folded in place showing just how narrow the stairlift is (left) and a Flow X stairlift (right).

Small Stair Lifts – Which Is Best For You?
Depending on your own particular staircase and preferences, either of these stairlifts could be right for you. We will generally suggest the Flow X model when no other stairlifts will fit! It is after all a more expensive model than most others. This is due to its patented technology and space saving design. The Flow X has an ASL (Advanced Swivelling and Levelling) technology which means it can function on stairs where other stairlifts struggle.
The ASL allows the stairlift to pivot and tilt while travelling, something most stairlifts cannot do. Certain stairlifts also require a run-on portion of the rail to allow the stairlift to pivot at the top/bottom for easy exit/entry.

The Flow X can be positioned close to doorways and corridors without becoming an obstacle for other house users.
Small Stair Lifts – Why Some Stairlifts Can’t Be Installed
Certain stairlifts cannot be installed on narrow or tricky stairs because they take up too much room or need extra room at the top/bottom in order to pivot, park or swivel. The Flow X gets around these problems because of it’s technology and the “drop nose” rail. The lift can also park anywhere on the rail without obstructing doorways and corridors.

Certain makes of stairlift don’t have this ability and they need more space, like these models for example which have a wrap around rail for easy exit/entry:
