Cost Of Stair Lift For Home Stairs – Why Curved Stairlifts Are More Expensive?
So why are curved stairlifts so much more? With a curved staircase, the fitting and rail customisation incur more cost. Plus, the chair itself is more complicated. With a straight stairlift, the stairlift mechanism is less complicated because it only runs in a single direction (up or down a straight line). But with a curved stairlift, the internal mechanism needs to turn corners, which makes it more complicated.
A straight stairlift is also easier to fit, and takes less time.
This is why the costs are so different, ranging from £990 (for a reconditioned straight stairlift), to £2950 for a reconditioned curved stairlift.
With new stairlifts too, you can see a straight (new) stairlift starts at £1350 and a new curved stairlift cost starts at £3990.
Running Cost Of A Stairlift For Home Stairs
The running cost of a stairlift is much lower than most household appliances and most stairlifts cost less than 5p per day.
A typical stairlift uses around 24 watts per hour – significantly less than many other household appliances. By comparison, a washing machine uses between 400 and 1400 watts per hour. Modern stairlifts are energy efficient too. They have rechargeable batteries so they stop consuming power when fully charged.
So you needn’t worry when it comes to energy efficiency when it comes to running a stairlift as they are very efficient.
