Behind the scenes at UK Stairlifts we have a team organising the stairlifts and prepping them for installation. Our drivers are often busy on either installations or removals and don’t always have time for prepping and organising the warehouse. Our chief organiser and stairlift “prepper” does most of the unseen work back in the workshop.
Let me introduce Paul – our chief “prepper”! Here he is preparing a reconditioned stairlift. The reconditioning process involves taking a pre-used stairlift and revamping it, testing all the working parts and electronics.

Here’s a video of Paul explaining the reconditioning process for one of the models we use – the Stannah 600.
Behind The Scenes At UK Stairlifts – The Workshop
In the workshop you’ll find a lot of stairlifts – either ready for installation or awaiting the reconditioning process.
Two of our most used stairlift models are the Stannah 600 and 260 which are used for straight and curved stairlifts respectively. Stannah’s make excellent stairlifts for reconditioning because they have high quality motors parts which often outlast other, cheaper models.
Below you can see some stairlifts awaiting reconditioning on the left and a range of straight rails on the right.

Parts
You’ll also see a collection of stairlift parts to be sorted through. Some parts are useful for when a reconditioned stairlift needs a new part. Some parts get used in the refurbishing process and others are disposed of.
Below you can see a collection of stairlift rail feet (left) for straight stairlifts and feet covers on the right.

Here’s some other stairlift parts including stairlift seat covers (right) and a collection of footplates – some for curved steps. The curved step footplates have an offset plate to avoid clashing with corner steps. This allows us to keep the stairlift low to the stairs while travelling.

This video shows some stairlift installations which have used the offset footplate and explains why they are used:
Workshop Overview
On the left is a wider view of the workshop showing the racking and shelves used for storage and organisation. On the right you can see some prepped reconditioned stairlifts ready to be installed.

Here’s a stairlift on the testing rail. This is where the stairlift is prepped, tested and made ready for installation. All our reconditioned stairlifts are thoroughly refurbished and given new parts and batteries before they go out. Each gets a full 2 year non-exclusion warranty, covering you for parts, labour and call outs.
