We often get customers who have been turned down for a stairlift. Has an installer told you it’s simply impossible to fit a stairlift on your stairs? If so you might need a second opinion. We specialise in stairlifts for narrow stairs, and stairlifts for awkward stairs. Some staircases are both narrow and awkward. They have uneven steps or are too narrow for a standard stairlift. Often we get customers who have awkward obstacles on their stairs too, such as radiators and doorways.
Rest assured, whatever your issue might be, there is usually a solution.

Turned Down For A Stairlift?
If you’ve been turned down for a stairlift, it’s likely the suppliers own stairlifts cannot be fitted to your staircase. But that doesn’t mean all stairlifts will have the same problem. Some stairlifts are specifically designed to be installed on even the most awkward and difficult of stairs. The Flow X, for example, is our go-to stairlift when things become insurmountable for other stairlifts.
This is an exceptional stairlift when it comes to being nimble on the stairs. It’s patented technology allows it to climb/descend, pivot and turn simultaneously. This makes it a modern day marvel when it comes to tricky staircases.
In the below example, we were handed the installation by another provider who couldn’t fit their lift on the stairs. The stairs were simply too tricky, with a corridor at the bottom, awkward and uneven stairs, a tight turn and doorways at the top.

Here’s a couple of pictures of the stairlift from the top of the stairs. You can read our case study on this stairlift here.

More Examples
Let’s have a look at a few more examples of some of the tricky stairlifts we have installed. Here’s an example with multiple obstacles including narrow stairs, awkward downstairs doorway and a bathroom doorway. The image on the right shows a stairlift folded up in a very tight corridor.

Here’s another one we installed on a very narrow staircase. Only the Flow X would fit here. The customer had struggled with his knees hitting the wall due to a stairlift which was too large. Read the case study on this one here.

Summary
So if you’ve been turned down for a stairlift due to lack of space on your stairs, give us a call on 0800 046 3438 and book a survey. UKStairlifts offer free surveys throughout the UK and can even install stairlifts at short notice if you’re in a hurry.
We often fit stairlifts on stairs where others have said it couldn’t be done! We will be able to determine whether a stairlift is possible on your stairs from a survey of your stairs. Sometimes we may require to carry out a photo survey. This is a survey which is done digitally and a digital map of your stairs is created. This is then sent directly to the manufacturers who determine whether your stairs are suitable.
Stairlift rails are manufactured specifically for your staircase, customised exactly to meet your requirements.
