Looking for a chair elevator for the stairs? Chair elevators, chair lifts or stairlifts are for anyone with a mobility issue who struggles with the staircase. They’re not just for the elderly, although the elderly are the most common users of stairlifts. Often stairlift users are those having recently undergone surgery, or with some other physical difficulty or an injury. Whatever your reason for needing a stairlift, we’re here to help.
At UK stairlifts we offer a number of options for your chairlift needs, and if you’re on a budget, we offer reconditioned stairlifts which are often very popular.
Reconditioned stairlifts are thoroughly inspected and tested before we sell them. Like our new stairlifts, every reconditioned stairlift comes with a full PLATINUM GUARANTEE. All parts, labour and call out charges are covered for 2 years so you can have total peace of mind.
Chair Elevator For Stairs – Stairlift Categories
Stairlifts are divided into two main categories: those for straight flights of stairs and those for curved staircases. The most straight forward fittings (no pun intended) are straight staircases.
With a straight stairlift, the chair only moves on one plane (up or down along a straight rail). With a curved stairlift, there’s more complexity because the chair must move around corners and in some cases navigate tight turns.

The Thyssen Homeglide is perfect for straight stairs
Straight stairlifts therefore tend to cost less than curved stairlifts. Not only is the chair for a curved staircase more complex, but the fitting and rail customisation is more costly. With a straight rail, it’s very easy to measure and fit. With a curved rail, it’s more difficult and the rail may even need to be custom made depending on your staircase.
Chair Elevator For Stairs – Stairlift Cost
The cost of a stairlift will vary depending on your requirements, staircase and the model of stairlift you decide to choose. Our straight stairlifts start at £990 and our curved stairlifts start at £2950 (for a reconditioned stairlift). If you’re buying new, straight stairlifts start at £1350 and curved at £3990.
The average cost of a stairlift will range between £1500 to £8000, according to your staircase layout and preferences. With new stairlifts, there’s optional extras, including colour choice and even customisable rail colours with certain models. Extra features include things such as electric automatic swivel seat and push button folding. Certain models, such as the Flow X Stairlift also have the option of emergency phone calls from your chair, in case you ever need it!

The Flow X has an automated folding option which works with the press of a button

Chairlift Safety
Which ever type of stairlift you choose, be assured that all makes and models which we offer are tested to the highest safety standards. Modern stairlifts have the highest safety standards and are equipped with various safety features to make sure they won’t let you down – unless you’re descending the stairs of course!
Our reconditioned models are always tested and we make sure they perform to the highest standards. So if you’re considering a reconditioned model, you can be assured you’re in good hands.
All of our stairlifts are guaranteed and we cover all parts, labour and service for a minimum of 2 years on our reconditioned models.
