The latest stairlifts are super cool! They have the latest technology which makes them suitable for even the most difficult staircases.
While many stairlifts have maintained their appearance for the last several years, this one is definitely a cut above the rest. Not just in the way it looks, but also in its functionality.
The Flow X stairlift is definitely the cutting edge model, and while some other stairlifts can compete on some levels, none offer its versatility in dealing with narrow/awkward spaces.
Latest Stairlifts – The Flow X
So what makes the Flow X so special in comparison with other stairlifts on the market? The Flow X has a patented technology which allows it to face downstairs and this is the most important advancement in practical terms. For some staircases, the older models with their outward facing ride position simply won’t accommodate difficult and narrow stairs.
This is sometimes due to the back to knee measurement (or back to toe, whichever is greater). This measurement can dictate whether a stairlift will fit on a staircase.
Latest Stairlifts – Aesthetics
The Flow X is also likely the most aesthetically pleasing stairlift too. It folds down to just 34cm in width, making it suitable for multiple home occupancy where there is a non-stairlift user present.
The features don’t stop there with the Flow X either. It’s loaded with safety features including an emergency descend button and safety “cut-off” rotating seat boss. This feature detects when there’s an issue when the user rotates the chair out of position. This can happen when there’s a blockage on the rail or if a piece of clothing gets stuck in the machine.
You can also choose from different coloured seat and backrest and even rail colour! Optional extras include mobile phone connectivity and power folding mechanism. Here you simply press a button and the stairlift will fold away neatly! Nice!
When to Choose The Flow X
Obviously the latest top of the range stairlift costs more than a standard model. However, with certain reconditioned stairlifts you can find them at a discounted price, when in stock. Reconditioned stairlifts give you the option of a premium stairlift at a more affordable cost.
We will often recommend a Flow X, or similar model when nothing else will fit on your staircase. So unless you are particularly wanting the latest stairlift, or like the looks and features of the Flow, we will recommend a cheaper model, if you’re on a budget.
We have seen a number of customers with very narrow or awkward staircases. It’s not just the width of a staircase which can affect the model you need. Sometimes, awkward turns, radiators or doorways can prevent you from installing a standard stairlift model. Here’s one where the Flow X was essential. This customer had tried multiple other stairlifts but none would fit. You can see just how narrow the staircase was. The Flow range are perfect stairlifts for narrow/awkward stairs.

Yes the latest stairlifts are awesome and we love the Flow X – it’s by far the best stairlift when nothing else will fit, too! It looks amazing, so if you’re worried about having a plain looking stairlift in your home, the Flow X adds something extra to any home.
