A motorised chair lift for stairs, or stairlift, can carry the user up and down a flight of stairs. Stairlifts are used by the elderly or anyone with impaired mobility. If you’re looking for a stairlift, contact our team on 0800 046 3438.
We are experts at stairlift installation and provide fittings throughout the UK. We also specialise in reconditioned stairlifts – providing our customers with a cost effective alternative to buying new. Our reconditioned stairlifts are fully refurbished, high quality models and are covered by a full 2 year warranty.

Motorised Chair Lift For Stairs – Types Of Stairlift
There’s various different types of stairlift and you will want to choose a stairlift based on a number of criteria:
- Whether your staircase is straight or curved – does it have a bend?
- Your budget – do you want a new or a reconditioned stairlift?
- Whether you need a specific stairlift – for example if you have a difficult staircase or are over the weight limit of a standard model.
We have created a stairlift guide to help you understand the main choices when it comes to purchasing a stairlift. Click on the image and download it below.
Motorised Chair Lift For Stairs – Main Types
The main choice you need to make is whether you need a straight or a curved stairlift. Straight stairlifts are considerably cheaper and quicker to install. A straight staircase only needs a straight rail, and you can use an “off the shelf” rail in most situations, removing the need for more detailed customisation.
Curved stairlifts are more complicated and will take longer, usually a few weeks for the rail to be manufactured.

If you want a stairlift quickly, as in the case of a hospital discharge, for example, a reconditioned stairlift can be organised more quickly than a brand new one. Curved stairlifts are also more expensive than their straight counterparts. This is because of the rail customisation and more complex chair mechanisms.

How Quickly Can They Be Installed?
Depending on the type of staircase you have, a stairlift can usually be fitted within a few weeks, and even within days if it’s a straight stairlift.
Before installation can take place, you may need a home assessment from one of our engineers, depending on the complexity of the staircase. We can usually arrange a home assessment within a few days.
From the initial phone call enquiry, it can take from 10 days to 3-4 weeks to get your stairlift installed, depending on your staircase configuration.
