Looking for a low profile stair lift? Here it is! Some of our customers want a low profile, unobtrusive stairlift which doesn’t get in the way for other home users. Many also don’t want a large stairlift sitting at the base of the stairs, simply because they don’t like the look of it.
The old, traditional looking stairlift can be cumbersome and obtrusive. Even it if folds up when not in use, some rails can make your home look too busy. Some people even consider a home evevator – a self contained shaft lift which moves vertically, much like one you would find in a hotel. However, these come at a much larger cost than stairlifts, and require considerable space to be installed, even renovation of your home for installation.
A low profile stairlift covers many bases. Whether you want a stairlift which looks great, takes up less room, or is simply more discreet looking lift, here’s the lift for you!

See our post on stairlifts for narrow stairs.
So, if you’re concerned that a stairlift will make your home look unsightly, this is the one for you! With its super sleek looks, the Flow X can even be customised so it matches your home. Choose from a range of colours and fabrics. You can even add mobile phone functionality if required so you’ll never be out of touch with your loved ones! Low Profile Stair Lift – ASL Tech
The ASL tech on the Flow X makes it the best stairlift on the market if your stairs are narrow or you have a number of awkward obstacles on your stairs. Doorways, corridors and other obstacles such as radiators can get in the way when it comes to stairlift installation.
Certain lifts won’t fit on some stairs if there’s a door at the bottom, or no space for the lift to manoeuvre. However, the Flow X is quite simply the best at adapting to its environment. ASL (Advanced Swivel and Levelling) tech allows the lift to seamlessly pivot and travel simultaneously.
Some other stairlifts can swivel and climb/descend, but not at the same time like this one can. So we will often recommend the Flow X when nothing else will fit your stairs.
Low Profile Stairlift – Aesthetically Pleasing
The Flow X is of course a little more expensive than some other stairlifts, so if functionality is the key issue, you may not need all the bells and whistles which this stairlift carries! But if the aesthetics in your household are important to you, this stairlift is definitely one to consider.
We spend a lot of time in our houses and so the look and feel of them is incredibly important; it reflects how we feel every day. If you home looks good, you feel good!
A stairlift isn’t always the item you would really want to purchase. In fact, it’s something most people would be much happier not to need. But it is after all a life-saving piece of kit!
The Flow X is definitely one of the most aesthetically pleasing stairlifts on the market, so you’ll definitely feel good about choosing this model in terms of its non-intrusive appearance.
Summary
So if you’re looking for a low profile stairlift, we definitely think the Flow X fits the bill better than the others. The Flow X folds down to a side profile of just 38cm when not in use and can be fitted on staircases which are super narrow, boasting a width dimension of just 61.3cm.
It’s dimensions and downward facing ride position allow it to navigate many staircases which would be out of the bounds of many other makes and models, particularly when it comes to curved stairs.
Of course the design of the Flow X makes it much more appealing to look at than some other models. If you’re particularly interested in minimalism and space in your home, the design of the Flow X is very appealing and you can even customise the colours and materials. The elegant single rail is also of massive appeal, particularly if the alternative is a double rail which is more obtrusive and perhaps less appealing to the eye.
