Here’s a post about fault diagnosis for the Stannah 600. From the outside of the stairlift you can simply read the panel and diagnose a fault based on the code shown.
Looking from the side of the stairlift, you can clearly see the fault code number.

Cross-referencing this with fault code diagnosis you can see what number relates to the fault. For simple faults such as this one, (number 3), you can see the fault. This is clearly a safety pad obstruction.
Many fault code 3’s can be a simple fix. Often the safety pad has been triggered. Simply tapping or releasing a trapped safety pad, around the base of the stairlift can remove the fault. More complicated faults will require an engineer.

Fault Diagnosis – Stannah 600
For more complicated fault diagnosis, the panel will need to be removed and an engineer will need to take a closer look. Here’s a picture inside the base unit with the side panels removed. You can see the display which is visible through the panel showing the “h” letter.

Above it you can see 8 LED’s with number “1” lit up. These 8 LED’s denote a particular fault group. Faults can then be further identified by the faults which belong to each group. Below is a list of some of the faults and each fault group. Once you are in engineering mode (by pressing the button above left of the display), the fault group number comes up automatically. Then press the SW4 button above the LED’s. This should bring up the fault within the group.
If the fault group number is the same as the fault, the display will show “A”.

Fault Diagnosis Stannah 600
If you’re experiencing a fault on a Stannah 600, you can often refer to the display which shows the main common faults. With more complicated faults which cannot be easily solved, you might need to call out an engineer. This is the process an engineer will use to further diagnose and fix a stairlift fault.
