A stair elevator, or stairlift, is for anyone with mobility issues within the home. At UK Stairlifts we have provided stairlift installation throughout the UK for over 20 years, building a reputation for excellent customer service and after sales support.
So if you’re looking for a stair elevator, or stairlift, give us a call on 0800 046 3438.
We can help you choose a stairlift which suits your home and your budget. We are particularly proud of our reconditioned stairlifts which offer high quality and affordability.
Stair Elevator – Types Of Stairlift
There’s two main categories when it comes to stairlift fitting – straight and curved. Straight staircases are much easier to cater for when it comes to stairlift installation. They are also cheaper than curved stairlifts.
The cost of a straight stairlift is between £1,250 and £4,000, depending on whether you buy new or reconditioned, and your staircase configuration. With a curved stairlift you’re looking at between £3,000-£7,000. See also stairlift prices for more information on cost.
With certain staircases, particularly narrow and awkward stairs, you’ll need a specialist stairlift which can cater for awkward configurations. See also stairlifts for narrow stairs.
Stair Elevator – New Versus Reconditioned
Our new stairlifts start at £1,850 (straight) and £4,990 (curved) but with a reconditioned stairlift you can make large savings. Reconditioned stairlifts we supply start at £1,250 and £3,500 (straight and curved respectively).
You needn’t worry about the quality of our reconditioned stairlifts either. All our reconditioned stairlifts are thoroughly inspected, refurbished and tested to make sure they are up to our high standards. They are given new batteries and a 2 year warranty covering you for costs of call-outs, parts and labour for the full 2 years.
We only choose the best second hand stairlifts to refurbish, using the models and makes we believe offer the best value and the highest quality.
Special Circumstances
Certain specifications might be necessary when you install a stairlift. For example if you are over a certain weight category you’ll need a bariatric stairlift (heavy weight stairlift). Most stairlifts are calibrated to take between 19 stone and 25 stone.
But if you’re over the weight limit of a certain stairlift you’ll need one which is more robust. Heavy duty stairlifts have larger chairs and stronger rails which can make them more difficult to install on narrow staircases.
On very narrow stairs, a standard stairlift can be difficult or impossible to install. We cater specifically for narrow stairs using typically the Flow X or Flow 2 stairlifts from Thyssen Krupp (now Access BDD).
We can also provide these stairlifts as reconditioned models when available.
