What’s the average cost of a stairlift? Depending on your staircase and requirements, the average cost of a stairlift can vary quite dramatically. You’re generally looking from £1500 to £8000 with the average price somewhere in the middle. For a reconditioned stairlift you’ll make some considerable savings and if your staircase is straight, it’s going to be a lot cheaper, too.
Reconditioned straight stairlifts are the cheapest kind of stairlifts and here at UK Stairlifts we offer them from £990. (See our prices). Straight stairlifts are cheaper because they are much simpler to fit. A curved staircase is much more complicated. It often requires more customisation in order to fit a winding staircase. Plus, the rail itself is an expensive part of a stairlift fitting, particularly with multiple staircases.
Average Cost Of A Stairlift – Reconditioned
Here’s a quick look at our prices for reconditioned stairlifts:
- Reconditioned curved stairlifts from £2950
- Reconditioned straight stairlifts from £990
Here’s our prices for new stairlifts:
- New curved stairlifts from £3990
- New straight stairlifts from £1350
So, buying a reconditioned stairlift will push the average stairlift cost down considerably. Plus, if you have a straight staircase you’ll make further savings. However, there’s more to consider and if you’re particularly heavy, you might need a heavy duty stairlift designed to carry much more weight.
- Heavy duty stairlifts start from £2350
Buying New?
If you want a brand new stairlift, you can expect to pay more. A new stairlift usually has a longer warranty, and of course you have more customisation options, such as colour and features you can choose. However, you can expect to add from £500 to a few thousand to the average price of a stairlift when buying new.
So if you’re on a budget, a reconditioned stairlift is definitely the way to go. in fact our reconditioned stairlifts are the most popular. We offer a 2 year guarantee on our reconditioned units and stand by their quality and durability.
Your Staircase – Curved or Straight, or Multiple Staircases
If you have a curved staircase and multiple staircases you’re going to pay more for a stairlift than with only one staircase which is straight. The rail on a stairlift will be a large determining factor in how much you will pay.
A simple rail is going to cost less because there’s less parts and it’s easier to fit, too. With multiple turns in a rail, with a curved staircase, you’re going to need more fitting time. Plus your rail will need more customisation. This gets more expensive the more difficult it becomes.
Certain stairlifts will cost upwards of £5000, not because the “chair” is particularly expensive or top of the line, but because of the rail needed to house it.
Stairlift Model
The model of stairlift you choose is obviously a part of the cost though. Here at UK Stairlifts we only choose the models we think offer the best value and of the highest quality. We don’t use models which won’t stand the test of time and particularly when we offer a 2 year guarantee on our reconditioned models.
