Curved stairlifts are generally more expensive than their straight lift counterparts. A straight stairlift is simpler – the stairlift itself only needs to travel in a single direction, so the working parts are simpler. Also a straight rail is cheaper to produce than the customised rail needed on a curved staircase.
Here’s a few examples of some of our curved stairlift installations together with their pricing.
Curved Stairlift Prices – What Affects Cost?
Curved stairlifts are manufactured specifically to fit your individual staircase. Depending on your needs, you may require a specialist stairlift if your staircase is very narrow, or there are awkward obstacles. If you do require a specialist stairlift, you can expect the cost to rise.
For most of our customers, we recommend a reconditioned stairlift. We choose the best makes and models for reconditioning and only use those in top condition. This can help you make considerable savings. See also how to save money on a stairlift.
Here’s an example of one of our installations, together with price.
This stairlift installation was £3,850 including the 2 year warranty we offer on all our stairlifts. It has a bottom internal (180 degree) parking wrap and a 90 degree incline bend at the top. The auto swivel allows for the flush landing finish – facing the user away from the stairs at the top.
Cost depends on a number of criteria including whether you need a specialist stairlift, number of bends and length of rail.
Specialist Stairlifts Prices
With a very awkward staircase, you may need a specialist model, such as the Flow X or Flow 2a. Here’s a Flow 2a on a very narrow staircase. With this staircase, another company passed it to us because they couldn’t install their stairlift on it as it was too awkward.
This installation was £4,650 using a Flow 2a stairlift for narrow stairs. It has a top 180 degree landing park wrap with run on. It has a fully programmable auto-swivel and a small footplate to help navigate this incredibly awkward staircase. Here’s the stairlift folded at the bottom of the stairs. The downstairs corridor and two doors made this the only choice as other models simply wouldn’t fit.
Curved Stairlift Prices – A Spiral Staircase
Although unusual we sometimes get asked to install stairlifts on spiral staircases. This was a very unusual installation but needed so the client’s father could visit his home.
This installation was £13,800 and was a Flow X covering 4 floors of a spiral staircase. Here’s some pictures of this unusual fitting.
A Curved Stairlift In Yorkshire
This was another awkward staircase due to multiple doors at the top of the stairs and it being very narrow and steep. This installation was a Flow X and the cost was £7,950. The installation was in Marsden, Yorkshire.
Curved Stairlift in Solihull
Here’s another similar stairlift installation our team carried out in Solihull. This was £7,650 and a Flow X. This one had a storage area underneath the staircase, which had to be considered.
Here you can see the stairlift folded away. This allowed access to the staircase for other household users and for access to the cubby hole under the stairs. Even on a very tight, narrow staircase such as this one, the Flow X offers a solution where space makes many other models unachievable.
Curved Stairlift in Bristol
Here’s another Flow X installation in Bristol which we carried out. This was another awkward staircase where a specialist stairlift was required. We also found a rather ingenious space-saving solution to parking at the top of the stairs! This installation was £8,150.
Another Tricky Staircase
Here’s another stairlift installation the team carried out. This was a another narrow staircase with an awkward bannister rail. This one was £4,250 and was a reconditioned model – brand new this would be £6,750.
Summary
As you can see, curved stairlift prices vary depending on whether you need a specialist stairlift and the number of bends in the rail. Also rail length is a determining factor of cost. If available we are able to lower the cost through our range of reconditioned stairlifts, where available.
