The Flow X stairlift is the smallest stairlift available in the UK. It fits staircases as narrow as 61cm in width (24 inches). It can be used on straight and curved staircases and has a patented technology called the ASL (Advanced Swivel and Levelling technology).
Here’s one of our recent stairlift installations of the Flow stairlift on a very narrow staircase:

What Is The Smallest Stairlift – The Flow X
The Flow X is a top of the range model which has several advantages over other makes and models. For starters it’s incredibly slim, folding down to just 38 cm when not in use. This means even on a narrow staircase, you can fold the stairlift down so it’s not in the way.
The single rail is another benefit and this can be very useful if you have a narrow corridor, or doorways at the base of the stairs. With some stairlifts, the rail must run onto the corridor so the chair can rotate for entry and exit. With the Flow X, a customised rail can be fitted to suit your interior. Here’s a drop nose rail on another of our installations:
This configuration meant that the stairlift could be installed without obstructing the lower doorway at the base of the stairs. Not only is the Flow X the smallest stairlift, but also the “smartest” in several ways. Checkout our recent case study on stair lifts for narrow stairs which explains just how versatile this stairlift model really is.
Smallest Stairlift – Parking
The Flow X can also be “parked” anywhere on the rail, and called from a wall mounted remote control. This again is a massively useful feature as it means that valuable space isn’t obstructed by your stairlift. On a very narrow hallway, parking a stairlift at the base of the stairs might not be possible.
The Cleverest Stair Lift?
The Flow X has patented technology which allows it to navigate the tightest of spaces. We have even installed one of these marvels on a spiral staircase! That’s how versatile they are! The ASL technology is unique to this stairlift and allows the user to face downwards while travelling. Most stairlifts have an outward facing chair, and those which do swivel the seat can only do so at the top and bottom of the stairs.
The Flow X can swivel and level itself while ascending/descending. This makes it perfect if you have a difficult or awkward staircase. In our case study, another provider couldn’t do an installation because the stairs were too narrow for the models they provided. The Flow X saved the day!
Summary
So if you have a narrow or awkward staircase and need help with your mobility, don’t despair! It’s quite possible that you can install a stair lift even if you have a tricky staircase layout. We have installed several of these models on tricky and awkward stairs and they are the best when it comes to adaptability.
- Super narrow – can manage stairs as narrow as 61cm in width, folds down to 38cm
- Adaptable patented tech – lets the chair face downwards, rotate and swivel while travelling
- Versatile rail – single, elegant rail allows many staircase configurations which wouldn’t be feasible for many other stairlifts.
- Can be parked anywhere on the rail to save space in your hallway/corridor
