Stairlift rental might be appropriate if you’re looking for a lift temporarily. This might be if an elderly relative is visiting, for example. Or, if you have only temporary mobility issues a stairlift rental might be more appropriate than a permanent one.
Renting a stairlift gives you more options and doesn’t tie you to large upfront costs, like purchasing a stairlift does. Although there will be upfront fitting costs and a monthly charge for a stairlift rental, it will save you money if you’re only expecting to use it short term.
For a straight staircase, you can expect to pay around £400 for fitting a rental stairlift and then from around £40 a month for its use. With a curved staircase, it’s a little more. A curved stairlift will cost from £75 a month and £950 installation cost. Often stairlift rentals don’t come with long term contracts and you can even get a stairlift for a short period of say a month or two if necessary.
Obviously this can save you from a large investment if you only need a stairlift short-term. Standard stairlift prices start at around £1500 (straight staircase) and £2950 for a curved stairlift, depending on your staircase configuration and needs.
Stairlift Rental Vs Reconditioned Stairlifts
Here at UK Stairlifts we install new or reconditioned stairlifts but don’t offer rental stairlifts. However, we are known for our high quality reconditioned stairlifts which are our most popular units. We offer a 2 year guarantee on all our reconditioned units and they offer the best value for money in our opinion. We choose only the best stairlifts when we buy a unit to recondition. They are meticulously dismantled and rebuilt by our in-house engineers.
So, if you’re looking for a stairlift rental, would a reconditioned stairlift be a suitable alternative? Our reconditioned units sell from £990 (straight staircase) and £2950 (curved staircase), so if you’re considering a stairlift rental, it’s worth weighing up the pros and cons of a reconditioned unit versus a rental. The longer you have a rental stairlift for, the more you pay overall. So if you think you will have your stairlift for over a year, a reconditioned stairlift might be a consideration.
Stairlift Rental – Other Benefits
Of course with a stairlift rental you can have a brand new stairlift for a fraction of the cost of a bought one (depending on the time you keep it for, of course). You’ll get a warrantee which covers you for any service or breakdown cover. (But you get this too with our reconditioned stairlifts).
Once you’re finished with the stairlift, you’ll be able to have it removed and pay nothing more. So a rental stairlift is probably the best if your mobility issues are only temporary or you’re having someone in your home for only a short time who requires one.
With a bought stairlift, you are paying more initially in upfront costs, but the longer you keep the lift for the more you’ll save.
