Stairlift Prices – How Much Does A Stairlift Cost?
Stairlift Average Cost
If you’ve been struggling with going up and down the stairs in your home, you may have thought about getting a stairlift? If so that brings you to the question of how much does a stairlift cost?
The average cost of a stairlift can vary according to the make and model you choose and your particular staircase layout. Straight stairlifts are cheaper than curved stairlifts and the average cost of a stairlift will range between £1500 to £8000. You can also save a lot of money through purchasing a reconditioned stairlift. Reconditioned stairlifts can save you between 30-40% of the cost of a stairlift.
If you have a straight staircase, and a small flight of stairs, you’re likely going to be looking at a lower cost. A longer staircase will be more expensive especially if it has curves in it. It may require a customised rail, for example and longer fitting times. Curved stairlifts have more complexity to allow them to move around tight bends.
Your choice of stairlift model and requirements also figure in to the cost of a stairlift. Our reconditioned stairlifts provide an excellent compromise between maintaining quality and keeping to budget. Refurbished/reconditioned stairlifts offer all the benefits of new stairlifts but at a fraction of the cost.

Stairlift Prices – Installation Costs Of Fitting A Stairlift
Our stairlift prices are set based on the value of the product including installation costs. We do not add any commission to our prices. At UK Stairlifts we firmly believe in offering our customers the best possible value for money.
Our prices cover:
- The cost of the stairlift
- Installation of the stairlift
- Any special fittings required
- The time involved in installing the stairlift
- A 2 year warrantee – offered on all our stairlifts
And that’s it, no hidden extras or nasty surprises and best of all we don’t employ salespeople. The person that gives you the price will most often be the qualified engineer who installs your stairlift.
Reconditioned Stairlift Or New – Pros And Cons
Should you buy a reconditioned or a new stairlift? There are advantages and disadvantages for each choice. A new stairlift is covered by a longer warranty of 3 years compared to 2 for a reconditioned stairlift. A new stairlift will utilise the newest technology and may be easier to repair because of the newer parts. A new stairlift is likely to last longer.
Even though we offer a 2 year guarantee on reconditioned stairlifts, once this time passes, parts for older stairlifts can be more difficult to get than with newer models.
Second hand stair lifts are more affordable and are a good option on a budget. You can save 30-40% of the cost of a stairlift by purchasing a reconditioned model. We only recondition the best quality second hand stairlifts and offer a 2 year warranty on them.
Warrantee Terms & Conditions
All our reconditioned stairlifts have a 2 year warrantee. This means you’re covered for parts, labour and call out charges for a period of 2 years. So, should anything go wrong with your stairlift, you won’t get hit by any additional costs. Our business has been built on customer satisfaction and we take this very seriously. If you have any problems at all, we will aim to resolve it to your satisfaction.
You can also purchase an additional warrantee for any stairlift. This is dependant on a survey of the stairlift.
Stairlift Cost Buy Versus Rental
Many people will only need a stairlift temporarily. If this is your situation it can be worth looking at stairlift rental costs and comparing them with stairlift costs for purchase.
Generally speaking it’s not worth using a stairlift rental if you’re going to be using it for longer than 6 months. Rental might be a consideration if you don’t expect to have your stairlift for very long.
Cost To Run A Stairlift
Most stairlifts cost less than 5p per day to run and a typical stairlift uses around 24 watts per hour – significantly less than many household appliances. By comparison, a washing machine uses 700 watts. Modern stairlifts are energy efficient too. They have rechargeable batteries so they stop consuming power when fully charged.
