Here at Uk Stairlifts we are particularly proud of our reconditioned stairlifts. A reconditioned stairlift is one which has been previously used and has undergone our thorough refurbishing process. Stairlifts are thoroughly tested and brought up to high specification and standard.
We have been in the stairlift business for over 20 years. Experience has taught us which stairlifts stand the test of time, and are the best for reconditioning. We only choose the best makes and models for reconditioning because we know they will last. Any non-working parts are replaced and all reconditioned stairlifts are given brand new batteries.
Only when we are satisfied that our reconditioned stairlifts are of the highest standard do they go out for installation. We give all our reconditioned stairlifts a full 2 year warranty, covering you for parts, call-outs, servicing and labour over that time.
Buying a used stairlift that has been fully reconditioned can mean large savings. A refurbished second-hand stairlift is usually quite a lot cheaper than buying a brand new one.
Our range of refurbished stairlifts are for all types of staircases, including straight, curved and even very narrow stairs. For our heavy duty stairlifts however, we insist on using brand new stairlifts for safety reasons.

Reconditioned Straight Stairlifts – Popular Stairlift Models
The AccessBDD Homeglide is a popular reconditioned straight stairlift. The Homeglide has an adaptable rail which folds upwards as the chair travels away from the base of the stairs. This is particularly useful to avoid obstruction at the base of the stairs.
The Stannah 600 is another popular choice with our customers. We like Stannah because of their superb build quality and powerful motors. They are also much nimbler than some models of stairlift and can be fitted to narrow or awkward stairs. Here’s a customer on a Stannah 600 (reconditioned).
Our Reconditioning Process
Before we begin the refurbishment process, we are careful to only choose stairlifts which we believe can last for years to come. We choose stairlifts based on our 20 years of experience in the industry and make sure we pick only those makes and models we believe are the best.
Each unit is meticulously inspected and stripped back to make sure all parts are functioning correctly. Failing or worn parts are replaced and any moving parts are lubricated and tested to optimise performance and safety. We always seek to restore a reconditioned stairlift to optimal health, making sure it runs at its maximum efficiency.
Damaged or worn upholstery is replaced and stairlifts are thoroughly cleaned to look like new.
We then test our reconditioned stairlifts on our in-house rail to make sure it performs correctly once it has been installed. If it passes the test it is ready for installation.
We give all our reconditioned stairlifts a full 2 year warranty, covering the customer for parts, labour, call-out charges and servicing. So if you buy a reconditioned stairlift from us, you know you’re in good hands!

Benefits Of Buying A Reconditioned Stairlift
- The most obvious benefit of buying a reconditioned stairlift is the savings you can make. On a used stairlift which has been refurbished, you can get a like-new stairlift for half the cost of a brand-new model.
- A reconditioned stairlift is ready to go which means there’s less waiting time for the manufacturers to deliver the lift. Reconditioned models are often waiting in a warehouse ready to be installed. So if you need a stairlift urgently, a reconditioned stairlift can save you waiting around.
- Buying reconditioned means you’re using a pre-used stairlift and saving the resources used in the manufacturing of a brand-new model. You’re also saving a perfectly functioning stairlift from going to waste, so there’s an environmental benefit of buying a refurbished stairlift.
Our Range Of Reconditioned Stairlifts
In this post we have discussed reconditioned straight stairlifts but we also offer reconditioned curved stairlifts too. We are particularly skilled when it comes to installations on narrow and difficult stairs. Have a look at our recent case study where we installed a reconditioned stairlift on a very narrow staircase.
We also provide heavy duty stairlifts. However, due to safety reasons, we prefer to only use brand-new stairlifts when a heavy weight stairlift is necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Much Can I Save With A Reconditioned Stairlift?
Depending on the make and model of stairlift you choose, and your particularly staircase configuration, savings can vary. Typically though you can expect to save between 20%-40% when buying a reconditioned stairlift as opposed to a brand-new model.
What Brands Are The Best For Reconditioned Stairlifts?
We prefer brands we know won’t let our customers down. We choose only the brands we think offer the best quality and value for reconditioning. Those are typically Stannah, AccessBDD/Thyssen, Platinum and Bruno.
How Fast Can My Stairlift Be Installed?
Reconditioned stairlifts can be installed much more quickly than brand-new ones which require longer times for manufacturing. Stairlifts are ready to go from the warehouse and we have installed some models within a few days when they’ve been needed urgently. Let us know your situation and we will endeavour to help.
What Are The Pro’s And Con’s Of New Versus Reconditioned Stairlifts?
A brand-new stairlift has a longer warranty – usually 3 years compared to 2, and will likely last longer than its reconditioned counterpart. Newer parts last longer and are easier to replace. However, if you’re on a budget a reconditioned stairlift can save you a large sum.
Can I Trust A Reconditioned Stairlift?
Yes – reconditioned stairlifts are reliable when they are purchased with refurbishment in mind, have been safety tested and have a warranty. We offer a full 2 year warranty on our reconditioned stairlifts to give you peace of mind. We only choose the best makes and models for refurbishment and thoroughly test and refurbish parts, making sure they are working efficiently before installation. All our reconditioned stairlifts are given brand-new batteries too, a common cause of malfunction in older stairlifts.
What Is The Upkeep Needed On A Stairlift?
Stairlifts are electrical/mechanical devices and it is recommended you have regular services (included in our warranty) to keep them in tip top condition and to make sure they’re running efficiently. Keeping them clean and the rail free of dirt is a good way to look after your investment. Dust from the rail can often get inside the stairlift mechanism and cause it to work less efficiently if it’s allowed to build up over time.
