Minivator Stairlift
The Minivator stairlift brand was acquired by Handicare in 2010 and rebranded Minivator stairlifts as Handicare.
Handicare is a Norwegian company that manufactures stairlifts and Minivator was a Midlands-based stairlift manufacturer. In 2010, Handicare acquired Minivator and merged with Freelift to form Handicare Accessibility Limited in the UK. The company initially kept the Minivator and Freelift names to avoid confusion.
Minivator 1000 Straight Stairlift
The Minivator 1000 is a straight stairlift which can be used on a straight staircase with no corners. The stairlift runs on a slimline track which hugs the edge of the staircase.
The track is fixed to the stairs and it leaves plenty of room on the staircase for other users. The track comes with two charging points, top and bottom, when not in use the stairlift should be left on one of these points.
These points are generally located where the stairlift stops. If circumstances require an alternative parking position, for example if a hinge track is used, the park position is easily located by using the park button on the remote control.
Parking on the charge point keeps the battery topped up. So your stairlift will continue to work in the event of a power failure. Slimline design is a concept that extends to the Stairlift itself. The stairlift can be folded up meaning minimum storage space is needed when the stairlift is not in use.
The addition of a powered footplate makes folding the unit up even easier for users who may have trouble bending.
Using the Minivator 1000
The stairlift is protected by a key switch. Once switched on the toggle control is simply held in the direction of travel. On arrival at the top of the stairs the seat is turned to face the landing so that you can get on and off your stairlift with ease. If preferred you have the option to add a powered swivel to make turning the seat even easier.
The Minivator 1000 is available in two types of seat and a choice of colours. The operating control can be placed on either arm. In the event that your staircase has a 90º corner landing at the top with a couple of steps to the final landing it may be possible to fit a platform system.
These systems work in conjunction with the stairlift. Once the stairlift has reached the end of its travel the platform is lowered and forms a bridge between the stairlift and the landing. This means that the user can dismount the stairlift and walk directly onto the landing.

Minivator 2000 Curved Stairlift
The Minivator 2000 is a curved stairlift. Curved stairlifts are also known as Round The Corner or RTC stairlifts. These stairlifts are designed for use on a staircase that turns a corner or is spiral in design.
The track is mounted on stanchions, which are fixed to the stairs. Every Minivator track is built to order following a survey of the staircase. Our team of designers calculate the optimum track length to accommodate the staircase whilst maximising the clear space on the stairs.
The track can be placed on either side of the staircase.
The Minivator 2000 Curved Stairlift system offers the tightest internal bend on the market. This means that in many cases this system will fit into hallways that other stairlifts cannot accommodate. Generally the track will have two charging points, top and bottom, however some tracks may require intermediate charge points too. When the stairlift is not being used it should be left on one of these points.
These points are generally located at the position where the stairlift stops. If circumstances dictate an alternative parking point, if a hinge track is used for example, the park position is easily located by using the park button on the remote control. Parking on the charge point keeps the battery topped up so your stairlift will continue to work in the event of a power failure.
