Bespoke Stairlifts Huddersfield – Narrow Staircases & Tight Corners
One of our most common questions is whether we can fit a stairlift on a particularly narrow or awkward staircase. In this scenario we often default to one of the most adaptable stairlifts on the market – the Thyssen stairlifts. The Flow X and Flow 2 Stairlifts can cater to a staircase as narrow as 61 cm in width.
Here’s a Thyssen flow 2 (A) (reconditioned) model being installed (in Huddersfield) on a tight staircase with an awkward turn.
The Flow series of stairlifts from Thyssen have patented technology which allows them to pivot, tilt and travel seamlessly around difficult staircases with awkward turns and in very narrow spaces. So, if you have a difficult or narrow staircase, a Flow model might be recommended.

This is because we only choose the best stairlifts to refurbish and we thoroughly inspect and test our second hand stairlifts before giving them our seal of approval. All our reconditioned stairlifts are given a 2 year warrantee which means you’ve covered for a full 2 years for the cost of any parts, labour and call-outs.
A reconditioned stairlift is still custom-made for your particular staircase, according to whether it’s straight or curved, and to fit your needs. However, there’s less choice with a reconditioned stairlift in terms of customisation. If you want to choose chair colours, fabric and other optional extras, there’s less choice with a reconditioned unit. But we can still find your a reconditioned stairlift to meet your needs and they are our most popular choice.

Staircase Type
Our bespoke stairlifts are always custom made to fit your particular staircase. Certain staircases will need more customisation than others, of course. Here’s a bespoke stairlift we fitted to a curved staircase.
With a straight stairlift, less customisation is usually needed in order to fit any given staircase. Pre-fabricated stairlift rails can easily be chosen to suit a straight staircase. With a curved staircase, a rail may need to be ordered specifically according to your measurements.
