We offer a range of reconditioned curved stairlifts at UK Stairlifts to suit your home and your budget. Reconditioned stairlifts are pre-used stairlifts which have been professionally refurbished by our team of engineers. Our curved range include those specifically developed for use on difficult and narrow stairs.
We understand how important your mobility is in the home, which is why we specialise in reconditioned stairlifts – making stairlift installation affordable to those who need it. A reconditioned stairlift is typically much more affordable than a brand-new one. You needn’t worry about the standard of our reconditioned stairlifts either. We choose only the best stairlifts for refurbishing and every model is thoroughly refurbished to a high standard, replacing any worn, or malfunctioning parts and replacing the batteries with brand-new ones.
We test our refurbished stairlifts in-house thoroughly, so we know that they’re functioning correctly before going out for installation.
Here’s one of our favourite models, the Flow X stairlift from Access BDD.

Why Choose A Reconditioned Curved Stairlift?
If you have a curved staircase, you’ll need a curved stairlift to handle the turns! Curved stairlifts are generally more expensive than straight stairlifts which is often why a reconditioned model is often preferable if you’re on a budget.
Why buy a reconditioned stairlift? Here’s our top reasons:
- Savings! The most obvious perk of buying a reconditioned stairlift is the money you will save. Depending on the make and model you choose, and your staircase configuration, you can save between 20-40% of the cost of a brand-new stairlift buying reconditioned.
- Speed! Reconditioned stairlifts are often sitting in a warehouse waiting to go out. This makes them more suitable for installation if you need a stairlift urgently. With a brand-new stairlift, there can be longer waiting times for manufacturing and delivery.
- Quality – Our reconditioned stairlifts are of the highest quality so you needn’t worry about the standard of your stairlift. We only buy the models we believe are the best, and which provide the best long-term value. We give all our pre-used stairlifts a thorough over-hall and a 2 year warranty.
- Environmental impact – purchasing a pre-used stairlift is a good way to save manufacturing/disposal impact. Not only are you saving money with a reconditioned stairlift but it’s also better for the environment!
- Safety Assurance – Buying second-hand doesn’t mean you’re skimping on safety and here at UKStairlifts we take stairlift safety very seriously. Each stairlift is carefully inspected to ensure all the safety features are operating properly. The stairlift is a live-saving piece of machinery. We want it to stay that way so we ensure safety features are working and in order before stairlifts are installed.
Application Process – Making Your Life Easier
If you’re ready to take some action in acquiring your stairlift, give us a call on 0800 046 3438. We will help you choose a stairlift which is right for you. We don’t use pushy sales tactics and aim to provide a stairlift which fits your home and your budget. If your staircase is particularly narrow/difficult, we might recommend a specific model, if required.
In certain cases we can give you a quote over the phone, or in some situations a home visit might be required. We will aim to arrange this to suit your diary and within a few days, sometimes the same day. There’s no obligation to buy from us and our home survey and quote is free.
If you’re ready to move forwards, we can often start the process of arranging a fitting within a few days. A benefit of a reconditioned stairlift is that it can often be fitted in super quick time, since we have reconditioned stairlifts waiting in our warehouse.

Prominent Features Of Our Reconditioned Curved Stairlifts
- Powered by 2 X 12 volt batteries, housed in the base units, stairlifts can carry on running even in a power outage. Batteries are trickle charged via the mains electric so always keep them plugged in a switched on to keep those batteries topped up.
- Remote controlled – Modern stairlifts can be operated from remote controls which are placed at the top and bottom of the staircase. This lets others operate the stairlift for a relative if need be, or call the stairlift if it is parked out of the way on the rail. It also means a stairlift can be used by multiple users in the same house.
- Customised to your staircase – our reconditioned curved stairlifts are always customised to be an exact fit for your stairs. This means you get more legroom as we will help you choose the best stairlift for your home, for optimal mobility.
- Safety – All our stairlifts are optimised for safety with obstacle monitors and automated cut-off controllers on the armrest. Should the user have a problem, the stairlift stops automatically as the controller needs constant pressure to manoeuvre the lift.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Will A Stairlift Installation Damage My Wall?
This is an often cited question from many customers. “Will a stairlift damage my wall?”. Stairlift rails are attached to the staircase, NOT the wall. There’s no damage to your walls as the stairlift rail is attached by screws to the staircase itself.
Will The Installation Damage My Stairs?
The rail is attached to the staircase with screws to hold it in place. These screws go straight through the carpet into the wood treads on your staircase. There is very little visible damage to your stairs upon removal and this is superficial and can easily be remedied. See some of our installations on our YouTube channel.
I Am Larger Than Average, Do I Need A Heavy Weight Stairlift?
Most stairlifts are calibrated to carry weight from between 19 and 25 stone, depending on the make and model. If you are on the limit of the capacity of a stairlift, you may need a heavy duty stairlift. Heavy duty (bariatric) stairlifts are calibrated to carry up to 30 stone. However, heavy weight stairlifts are often less capable of being installed on very narrow stairs, and this can be an issue.
I Have A Handrail On My Stairs. Will It Be Removed?
In certain cases a handrail may need to be removed in order to install a stairlift. Our engineers will take care of this so you don’t have to do anything. Your engineer will speak to you about this during the initial assessment. In some cases a handrail can remain in place, depending on the available space on the staircase.
Do You Offer Cash-Back On Returned Stairlifts?
We do re-purchase stairlifts yes. However, this will always depend on the usefulness of the stairlift and whether it is usable for reconditioning/parts. If we cannot use your stairlift, we may charge a fee for removal and disposal.
How Much Can I Save Through Buying A Recon-Stairlift?
The savings you make will depend on the make and model of stairlift you choose, and your individual rail configuration. Generally though you can make savings of between 20-40% of the cost of a brand-new stairlift.
