Looking for second hand stairlift installation? Here at UK Stairlifts we specialise in professional installation of fully refurbished pre-used stairlifts – also known as reconditioned stairlifts.
We choose our pre-used stairlifts very carefully, making sure to choose the makes and models which perform the best over the longer term. Our preferred models for reconditioning are high quality stairlifts such as Stannah. These models out-perform cheaper makes and give us (and our customers) fewer problems.
We make sure all our reconditioned units are thoroughly refurbished and they are carefully inspected. We give them all a full no-exclusion warranty of 2 years. This covers you for parts, labour and call outs for a full 2 years.
Why Choose Second Hand Stairlift Installation?
A second hand stairlift has a number of benefits over a brand new model. For starters there is the cost which is why most of our customers choose a reconditioned stairlift. Check out our page on reconditioned stairlift prices here for a deeper dive on savings you can make.
For a quick overview of price differences here’s a snapshot comparing brand new stairlift cost with the reconditioned alternative:
Type of Stairlift | Typical Price Range |
---|---|
Straight Stairlift (New) | From £1,850 |
Curved Stairlift (New) | From £4,990 |
Straight Stairlift (Reconditioned) | From £1,250 |
Curved Stairlift (Reconditioned) | From £2,950 |
Got Your Own Lift And Want Just Installation?
We sometimes get asked whether we will install a lift which you already own, or one you would like transferred from one house to another. We will consider this on a case by case basis.
However, we do prefer to know our stairlifts. That’s why we can apply our 2 year warranty to them. We know they will last because we have given them our “stamp” of approval! They are all thoroughly checked and tested by our in-house engineers.
So if you already have a stairlift, this can affect whether we will apply a warranty to it.
Another potential issue of swapping a lift is which hand the lift is as each is assigned a particular side of the staircase on which it will run. Plus, rail configuration for one staircase most likely won’t fit another, so often a new rail will need to be manufactured according to specifications.
Give us a call on 0800 046 3438 to discuss if you already have a stairlift you want to use.
A Second Hand Stairlift Is Typically Faster To Install
Another reason a lot of our customers choose second hand stairlift installation is speed! Our reconditioned stairlifts are sitting in the warehouse ready to go, whereas a brand new one will take longer to order and deliver from the main distributor/manufacturer. Rail manufacture is done outside the UK for many brand new stairlifts, so the rail too is faster when it’s made locally.
For a curved stairlift brand new, it can take 3-5 weeks for it to arrive. But with a second hand curved stairlift, it can be 10-15 working days. With a straight new, it’s much faster because the rail needs less specification. This is also true of reconditioned straight stairlifts which can be installed with a few days.
So the speed of your stairlift installation will depend on whether it’s straight or curved, but as you can see a second hand installation can speed things up considerably if your staircase is curved and you require a curved lift.
Second Hand Stairlift Installation – Other Considerations
A second hand stairlift installation can be a great choice if you require a speciality lift, which would otherwise be prohibitively expensive. For example, certain lifts are upwards of £5,000 because they have unique technology which helps them navigate very difficult and awkward stairs.
Depending on the length and configuration of your stairs, this can rise to £10,000+ in unusual cases depending on the staircase complexity.
So for a complex fitting, a second hand stairlift installation might make the best option, as it can cut the cost considerably if there are reconditioned models in stock which are suitable for your installation. Checkout our page on stairlifts for narrow stairs which is a common reason for a speciality lift installation.
Summary
A second hand stairlift installation is often the best solution if you need a stairlift on a budget, or you’re in a hurry. We choose only the best makes and models for our refurbished stairlifts and apply a full no-exclusion 2 year warranty to them. This gives you a high quality lift at a fraction of the cost, and the peace of mind knowing you’ll be looked after should you have any issues with your machine.
Second hand stairlifts are much faster to install, particularly when it comes to curved staircases. Brand new rail manufacturers are often outside the UK and delivery and manufacture adds up to several weeks waiting time!
